Rotary Bending

Rotary bending involves bending the pipe or tube on a stationary die set that has been machined to the correct outer diameter. To prevent the pipe or tube from collapsing during the bending operation, a mandrel is inserted inside it. Rotary bends can be made with a maximum bend angle of 180 degrees. The bend angle indicates how far the pipe has been bent from its original straight position. Rotary bends can be produced with pipe or tube having an outside diameter of.50′′ to 4.50′′. Materials that are square or rectangular can also be bent. Our CNC bending machine ensures high-quality consistency. Multiple bend configurations are possible, minimizing the amount of welding and polishing required.

Roll Bending

Small diameter pipe and tube bending, as well as arc bending greater than 180 degrees, are among our skills. Tangent lengths of 8′′ each end are required for material smaller than 2′′ pipe (2.38 O.D.) and 18′′ each end for material more than 2′′ pipe. The arc length is constrained by the material's stock length minus the minimum tangent lengths. When possible, all of the radii bends are merged and rolled as a single length, which can subsequently be divided after rolling if needed.

The inside or center line of a bend is referred to by bend radii and diameters. The terms radius and diameter are frequently misunderstood. The diameter is two times the radius in the diagram below. A 180o bend on a 7′′ center line radius, for example, would result in a 14′′ center line diameter (14.00′′ center-to-center). The inside radius (r) is equal to half the OD or width of the tubing being bent minus the center line radius (R).

"Continuous, inside handrails on switchback or dogleg stairs can convey to the person with a visual impairment that another stair flight begins immediately after the turn," according to ICC/ANSI A117.1 and the ADAAG.
